The Dynamic Duo.
This is how my assistants were dressed just before we went outside to plant our vegetable garden.
On weekends, Marley likes to stay in her nighties as long as possible. Because they're fancy (obviously), but also because they exude the relaxation of lazy mornings when there is time for actual homemade pancakes. (I usually double the batch, by the way, and then freeze the extras so that pancakes help make the first few weekday mornings happier, too.) Beanie's straw hat is reminiscent of J Lo, I think, and the pink kitty galoshes help to establish that she will be doing some actual digging. I recently told another mom at preschool pickup that I thought Marley would be subscribing to Vogue by the age of ten.
Rudy and I picked up the KG jersey because it was on sale, because the Celtics season ended earlier than it should have. And please note the princess potty just behind Rudy. It has a plastic blue jewel-ish-faceted handle that magically chimes when "flushed." As if pee and poop are so enchanting. And actually, if Rudy would get something into that potty it would be magic. She'll go so far as to sit on the potty, and one afternoon she rocked back and forth on it moaning, "I'm starving! I'm starving!" She only knows that starvation is uncomfortable because she's heard her sister wail the same thing, probably when I was refusing her another Oreo. Rudy understands connotation, at least. It's like how she complained that her car seat buckles were too tight a few weeks ago by screaming, "I'm freezing! I'M FREEZING!"
