Marley's Birthday: She's Six!

Here is something pretty important that happened in this past month, something other than my coaching a field hockey team that is currently 10-3-2 and gearing up for the post-season next week. Playoffs!

It is this: Marley had a birthday.

That's right. Last month, Marley turned six. Now I use that number all the time, as in, "Oh, Marley. You can do it yourself. You're six." Or, "Marley! Just let Rudy be! Let her have it! She's only two, and you're six! C'mon!"

So. Now Bean is six. She has snack with her kindergarten friends everyday and has a hard time deciding who she's going to sit with on the school bus. She knows who Justin Bieber is, sort of, and she was singing Rebecca Black's vacuous "Friday" around the house this past weekend. I mean, she still was down for Yo Gabba Gabba Live! with Toot and me a couple of weeks ago (It was spectacular, obviously.), and she still wants to watch "The Backyardigans" and believe it or not, "Blue's Clues," when she and Rudy are slumped on the couch in the morning enjoying their I-just-woke-up-chocolate-milk. But she also wants to watch "iCarly," and I can tell that she wants so much to be a big kid because she laughs along with the laugh track even when she doesn't get the lame, tween-y joke. She's growing up, and she's as sassy and as melodramatic as ever.

She's also little and sweet and sparkly. And I'd like to make sure that I enjoy six all year, because one through five went much too fast.
