Countdown. And a Twist Analogy.
The summer is passing too quickly! It's already August, and last month raced by in a whirl of suffocating heat, swimming lessons, teaching commitments, attempts to plan curriculum and start home improvements, and, in the last few days, Rudy's eye surgery and recovery. Her operation went smoothly, Twist Hounce still alternates between turning up and going missing at a fairly regular pace, and in three weeks, field hockey and therefore, the start of the school year will usher in an even more powerful whirlwind. As in, one that will knock our home and routines into a temporary tailspin. It will be okay. It always turns out okay, the same way that Twist Hounce always appears just when you think he's finally wedged himself somewhere remote and impossible. You've given up, hopeless, and then he's suddenly rescued from a neglected cranny and perched on the kitchen counter.
It's like this: even while there was uncertainty, Twist was available and capable and reliable that whole time. I hope I can remember that, or something like it, when I'm groaning beneath stacks of papers and over-caffeinating through a third week of night games.
