Beach Life!

Todd took a few days off work last week, and we managed to get to the shore one last time this summer. Our day started off cloudy and way too cool for boogie boarding or even full immersion into the Atlantic, but it ended in fried clams and thin, thin onion rings with fresh lemonade at a picnic table beside a salt marsh, so who cares? Not Marley!

Our friends Abe and Kaitlin just returned from over seven weeks traveling the Silk Road in Asia. Abe won a grant from his school district to do so, and we've been showing Marley their blog all summer, so now she's wondering when we're going to travel around the world. (Keep wondering, Bean. We're not sure when we're going to make it to Disney World, for starters.) Anyhow, they brought Marley the perfect dress in Thailand. It's pink, it's very, very fancy and beautiful, and soon after she tried it on, she scurried upstairs to her room with her little umbrella to put on the Tea Dance from the Nutcracker. We could hear her hopping around her room from downstairs, and since Rudy had just been tucked into her crib, we could hear her, too, clapping along with the audio each time a new dance ended.

Marley wore the dress to the beach and for two days after that. I'm pretty sure that when it returns from the wash, it will be the ensemble of choice for another devoted series of days.
