For true glamor, just add a tutu.

Rudy's tutu-wearing is poised to spiral out of control if we don't help her to rein it in. When Marley was three, she had many, many meltdowns related to her ongoing nightie-wearing. Sometimes we'd force her to actually get dressed before leaving the house; sometimes we'd let her wear her nightie under her clothes; sometimes we'd shrug our shoulders and she'd prance outside in her satiny finest. Rudy is getting there, I think, and let's face it: her role model is Princess-Fairy-Marley-Pinkalicious-Sparkle-Make-up-Big-Sister. So, lately, Rudy insists on wearing Marley's tutu almost as soon as she gets up in the morning, and sometimes she asks to put it on with her pajamas before bed. The Easter Bunny brought Beanie this tutu a while ago, and she's gotten plenty of fancy out of it over the past year or so. Now it's her little sister's turn.

Sometimes Rudy wears the skirt as a dress, which reminds me of what both Liz and Danielle said about shopping at Forever 21. First of all, we're not 21 anymore, and when Liz and I went there looking for something I could wear to my high school reunion, we had to work our way there. We started with the Limited and Express before we ventured into the store where , second of all, it was unclear whether some of the items we held up were meant to be dresses or skirts. Rudy can get away with choosing one or the other depending on her mood; I could not.

And let's talk about the plastic flip-flop wedges that she wears around the house all day. She got them for her birthday and I just knew they'd be a hit because Rudy loves what she calls fee-fops, and she also loves her some pencess shoos. Here we have the perfect combination, and sometimes she even has them on in her crib when settling in for the night. Remember, Rudy's got bowed legs, and she waddles a little when she walks. I guess you could call it an assertive strut. But she can work those heels, hoo boy, way better than I could, and for way longer.

When I got home from the grocery store on Sunday night, I dropped my bags in the playroom and sort of just exhaled with a happy smile on my face because I got to see Rudy playing in the kitchen Todd made for Marley over three years ago. In her heels, of course. She told me matter-of-factly, several times, that she was making num-num (milk). And then, true to Rudy Toot form, when I tried to film her glamorous cooking show, she immediately wanted a playback.

Where's Rudy, indeed.
