Pink. And Chocolate.
Valentine's Day is pretty much Marley Day. There are a lot of pink decorations all over the place, flowers and lace and hearts make everything so fancy and beautiful, and the edible treat of choice is chocolate.
We celebrated this morning with cards and stickers and a Fancy Nancy Valentine's book, and after lunch we took a trip a candy store to make our own sundaes with Liz and Will and his brothers Sam and Ben. Marley and Rudy don't know it yet, but there will be heart-shaped cardboard boxes of chocolate to open when their Daddy gets home from work. And lots of smooches. When we left the high school preschool late this morning, Marley yelled, "I love my mommy on Valentine's Day!" as we walked to the car. I'm writing it down because I want to remember it, because that sort of spontaneous declaration has a short shelf life. Meanwhile, I love my girls (and Todd) on Valentine's Day! I can safely yell that for at least a few more years, I think.
