Spectacle(s).
Rudy got new glasses a couple of weeks ago. She is now done with metal frames (and thankfully, nose pads that needed replacing too often), and I helped her to chose a pair that is (get ready): purple, yellow, pale blue, and sparkly, with hearts on the temples. Officially, they are Princess Sweetheart Glasses in Grape Lemonade. And good for Toot! My personal philosophy regarding glasses has always been: If you're going to wear glasses, wear glasses. I appear to have passed that wisdom onto my girls with ease.
And Rudy has taken this advice even further. As in, if you're going to get dressed, get dressed. Do it several times a day. Wear a skirt under your dress and over your leggings. Try a different pair of leggings. Wear red velvet, purple tulle, and thick tights with hearts or stripes or snowmen. Wear as many things with polka dots as you can. If it's above fifty degrees, put on one of your new summer dresses. And then try a different one. And then throw a fit if you're on your fifth change of the day and your mom is asking you, unreasonably, to stop.
That kid is a spunky swirl of color and fun and laughs, and I am lucky that she is my daughter. It's like her philosophy is, "Listen. If you're going to be awesome, be awesome."
