Running. For Fun!
This year, Marley and Rudy participated in our elementary school's annual Fox Trot with fellow Farley Foxes Riley and (eventually) Owen. Here are some happy memories from that day.
1. Before the start of the staggered races, including Riley's and Marley's 400-meter, Marley lived up to her clingy and loving reputation by hugging her third-grade cousin repeatedly on the same track where they posed for posterity a year and a half earlier.
2. Rudy ran the 200-meter and finished dead last. By a lot. She was clearly full of nerves at the starting line, so she clutched Hat Lamb to calm herself. Later, she told me that she was upset because she was the only one lined up who was wearing a hat. Anyhow, before the first hundred meters were over, she was clenching Lambie in her teeth, and that's how she crossed the finish line. She was not upset to be the only one doing that.
3. Owen ran the 200, too. And he clearly was not preoccupied by his winter headgear. In fact, I think his Angry Birds hat makes his jostling start that much more intimidating.
